Every year on Super Bowl Sunday, millions of viewers tune in to watch two teams compete for the championship title, a great halftime performance and most importantly, to see the dozens of commercials that brands come up. Did you know a 30-second spot costs around $5 million dollars this year? With a price tag of that magnitude, our expectations for entertaining and engaging commercials is at an all-time high!

With all the excitement around what commercials we’ll see this weekend, the IMS360 team is sharing our favorite commercials from over the years. One thing we know for sure – Budweiser sure knows how to create a great Super Bowl ad!

Greg Hammer | Budweiser “Wasssup?”

It’s hard to believe that in 1967, a 30-second spot in the AFL-NFL World Championship (now called the Super Bowl) was only $40,000! I have a lot of favorite commercials, but I think one of my favorites of all time was the infamous “Wasssup?” Budweiser frogs commercial. I just found out that it actually has its own Wikipedia page.

Elvin Padilla | Doritos “Slap”

Hands down one of my favorite commercials of all time. Short, sweet, and direct.

Michelle Guido | Gatorade “Big Heads”

Gatorade release a commercial in 2006 that has stuck with me for almost 14 years. It didn’t have much to do with Gatorade but instead featured a bunch of kids playing sports outside on a sunny day. They pretended to be some of the best athletes at the time (as many kids do) but their heads were replaced by the overly-exaggerated “big-heads” of the corresponding players. It toyed with the idea that all those pro athletes were at one point just kids playing sports outside with their friends and being inspired by athlete that came before them as well. It was overall just a fun, creative, and extremely memorable commercial to me.

Sam Taschler | Reebok “Terry Tate”

This is an ad from Reebok back in 2003 where a company hired a football player to “remind people” of some company policies. This one has always been a favorite of mine because who doesn’t get a little frustrated when somebody doesn’t refill the coffee!

Steph Jordan | Budweiser “Puppy Love”

It’s a tiny puppy and a giant horse who are best friends. What more could you possibly want?

Kelly Breznovits | Budweiser “Frogs”

I was 4 years old when the Budweiser Frog commercial first aired and it is still one of my favorites due to the memories it created! My dad would assign each part to himself, my brother and I so we would each say: “Bud” “weis” “er”. Lots of laughs are still shared when we think back on this commercial.

Christian Damiano | Doritos “Birds of Prey”

My favorite Superbowl ad would have to be the Doritos Bird of Prey ad. Just something about seeing a man act like a bird is hilarious to me!
